Requirements for Accessing the Online Classrooms
Your computer might be ready to load the online classrooms and web conference. If you can successfully run the browser test (Test Browser button) in the online conferencing area, then you should be able to attend online classes. Otherwise, check the requirements below to enable your system participate in conferencing. |

Computer Requirements for a successful hosting of a web conference: |

|
- At least 350MHz Processor speed
- At least 64Mbyte RAM
- At least 56kbps Internet connection speed
|
|

- Java Virtual Machine
- Quick Test on Sun System page for JVM. If you can see the dancing Duke logo image animated in the applet on the test page, then the JVM is functioning correctly. Works for Solaris, Apple OS X, Red Hat Linux, SuSe Linux, Windows platforms.
- Enable JVM through your web browser for Win 9x,ME,2000,NT,XP, Mozilla, Netscape, AOL, Opera.
- Enable JVM software through the Control Panel.
- Download and Install JVM
- Download and Install Sun Java Client Directly
- Alternatively Download Microsoft Java Client Directly

- Operational Requirements
- To load the latest versions of Web pages and programs you would need to clean out your browser cache for Win 9x,ME,2000,NT,XP, Mozilla, Netscape, AOL, Opera.

- Internet Explorer Requirements
- Check to see your version of IE by going to Help / About Internet Explorer. If you have a version lower than 5.5 then download the latest verion.
- Download latest version of Internet explorer on Microsoft page. Remember to select the appropriate lauguage before proceeding with download. Also see system requirement for IE.

If you pass the browser test but still can not participate in an online class, check the following:
- Temporarily disable any pop-up blocker before trying to access the online class.
- Temporarily disable any firewalls before accessing the online class
- Clear your browser cache and ensure you have some free space on your hard disk
- If you still can not enter into your online class, call tutorcentral support.
