Consultative learning on TutorCentral will be described using the following scenarios:
- I have a home improvement project to replace leaking pipes in my bathroom. I contact a tutor with the appropriate skills online. My aim is not to take a complete course in plumbing but learn enough to complete the task. Using my video camera connected to a camera, I have my tutor walk me through what I need to know to complete the task. After paying for my tutoring session, I still end up spending less than half what I would spend hiring someone to do this.
- I wish to set up a small company since I have started receiving lots of web design requests. I contact a tutor from the law subjects section on TutorCentral with the appropriate experience and he shows me over the online classroom what forms I have to complete, where I have to download them, and what to do. I take notes and later complete the application forms. I have a second session with my tutor to ensure that the forms are well completed.
Consultative learning may provide anytime, just what is needed learning that may be addressed by knowledge owners who are located anywhere. |
